Gac Fest' 2021, held in Burlington, NC, was a vibrant tribute to Greg Cates, founder of GAC, the original Unlimited team. Organized by Brother J. Vinson Bey, the event was a heartwarming celebration filled with the smiles of friends reuniting and the positive energy of a community coming together.
Brother Bey curated a special experience. A curated mini-exhibition honored Greg's legacy, while a lineup of local vendors – creatives with the same passion Greg possessed – showcased their homegrown businesses. It was a place where I finally snagged a Kreative Keva shirt from her Greg-inspired collection, and the music selection was on point. Local artist Carly Judd belted out my favorite song, "Friday," and Gravey, a rising star, delivered his single "Tornado" with headlining Coachella energy.
Personally, I contributed an art piece depicting a cherished memory with Greg, a reminder of the time we collaborated on a shoot at the park. The entire experience brought back the feeling of being part of the Unlimited Team. Long live GAC, forver unlimited.
